So I’m packing up my room to ship its content, and I hate packing. This is probably my 5th time packing my life into boxes and I’m not a fan of it! 😦 Between choosing items to throw, sell and give to charity, I found an old pair of favourite jeans from Stradivarious which I had bought in Spain years ago. It’s a size 10 pair of jeans, but I am currently between a size 6 and 8 and unfortunately it doesn’t fit too well as a pair of jeans.
I was about to throw it in the trash bag, when a thought came into my mind. I will be going to Trieste next week to be with old university friends and Trieste is having a better summer than where I currently am…so why not rework my jeans into shorts? 😀
So, here’s an easy pictorial guide on how to rework your old pair of jeans for the summer/equator!
Tools I used:
- Hand-held hole puncher
As you can see, the waist of my current shorts is smaller than my old jeans. However, the important part is that you match the crotch of the shorts with the jeans so that you do not over-cut the jeans!
Do not cut right on the line, as you want to leave some space for fraying.
Be careful when you use scissors to fray, mine is slightly blunt. Just scrape the scissors along the hem, or anywhere else on your shorts!
I used a hole-puncher which I have, to prepare holes to attach my studs! If you don’t have a hole-puncher, you can also use a sharp edge and carve a small hole.
Anddd…I’m done! All within 30 minutes as well 😀
The Finished Product:
The waist on my shorts is still loose, but who doesn’t like wearing it low? 😉
I’ll put my shorts into the wash, to let it fray even more! I hope you enjoyed this simple DIY 😀
♥ Much Love! ♥
